Ross Hill Pinnacle Shiraz 2012
Style: Mid-Full bodied red.
Region: Orange, NSW
Tasting note: An earthy, spicy nose reminiscent of Northern Rhone Syrah. Beetroot and white pepper with lifted fruit characters of plum and blackberry. Dense and powerful yet elegant and complex.
Final Say: One of the better Australian examples of cool-climate Shiraz I’ve seen in a while. $40 a bottle.
Score: 18.5 out of 20
Jack, you must be forgetting about the Mt Langi Cliff Edge Shiraz! Or you haven’t tasted it yet. Easily the best cool climate shiraz below $40 in this fine country. The 2012 is as tasty as the 2010, and comes with more gold medals than Usain Bolt. At $20 bottle (RRP $35) via yours truly, one might say a steal too… 😉

Always the salesman… Yes, the Mt Langi Cliff Edge is a cracker of a wine and score sits in line with this wine however I feel this wine displays a lot more individuality.
